BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU suffered a 4-2 defeat in game two of Sunday's doubleheader against Central Connecticut State.
In search of their second home win of the season following Saturday's 9-8 walk-off victory, the Sharks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning thanks to a clutch hit from
Ryan Rivera. The junior, who currently leads LIU with twelve RBI this season, opened things up by singling home
Noah Sorensen on a base hit to left field.
CCSU secured a lead by scoring in the fourth and sixth innings to make it 2-1. The Sharks attempted to capitalize rather quickly after the Blue Devils took the lead, loading the bases in the bottom of the sixth. Leadoff hitter
Benjamin Fierenzi went on to score on a wild pitch to tie things up at two.
The Sharks failed to take the lead again as CCSU scored twice in the seventh to pull ahead, ultimately winning 4-2.
LIU will take the field next on Tuesday, March 11, visiting UConn at 3 p.m.
