BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Justin DeCastro and Mason Breton have earned NEC Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, after playing big roles in LIU's most recent victory.

DeCastro pitched a gem in LIU's 4-3 road win at Lehigh on March 1, tossing seven innings and holding the opponent to five hits and just two earned runs while striking out two. In the same game, Breton led the Sharks with four hits, going 4-for-5 (including a double) with two runs scored.

The freshman also pitched two scoreless innings of relief earlier in the week against Lehigh on Feb. 28.

Additionally, Jack Power was also named an NEC Prime Performer for LIU. He hit three home runs in the 2-2 week for the Sharks, including a 2-for-4 day with two home runs and three RBI to help LIU defeat Hofstra 12-8 on Feb. 25.

The Sharks will open up their home schedule on Friday, March 7, hosting Central Connecticut State at 2 p.m.
