EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Chris Pappas scored two power-play goals on Senior Day as the LIU men's hockey team knocked off Alaska Fairbanks, 4-2, at the Northwell Health Ice Center on Friday night.
Before the game, Isaiah Fox, Connor Gregga, John Gormley, Andrius Kulbis-Marino, Nick Trela, and Pappas were honored ahead of the Sharks' program-record 18th win of the season.
Pappas scored his first goal of the game at 14:03 in the opening period, evening the score at 1-1.
Josh Zary then gave LIU a 2-1 lead with his team-leading eighth power-play goal after finding the back of the net with five seconds left in the first period.
Pappas netted the game-winning goal just past the midway point of the third period, securing LIU's 4-2 win in game one of its two-game series against the Nanooks.
Noah Ruppercht stopped 14 shots and earned his team-leading 12th win of the season.
LIU returns to the Northwell Health Ice Center for its season finale on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
