EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU men's hockey team scored five unanswered goals in its 6-1 win over Alaska Anchorage, securing its 16th victory of the season and tying the program record for most wins in a single season, originally set during the 2023-24 campaign.
Isaiah Fox opened the scoring with a net-front tip-in to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Austin Brimmer extended the lead in the final minutes of the opening period, netting his ninth goal of the season to put LIU ahead 2-1.
Connor Gregga added to the advantage, making it 3-1 in the final four minutes of the second period.
The Sharks capitalized on power plays in the third period, with Isaac Lambert and Josh Zary each finding the back of the net. J.R Perdion also scored in the final frame in LIU's 11th home win of the season.
Goaltender Noah Rupprecht stopped 11 shots, earning his ninth win of the season.
"We are very proud of our team," said head coach Brett Riley. "It was a total team effort tonight, and we'll need to be ready for a strong pushback from UAA on Saturday afternoon."
The Sharks and Seawolves face off again on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Northwell Health Ice Center.
