BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU defeated New Haven 2-1 on Thursday afternoon, improving to a still undefeated 4-0-2 in NEC play.
Freshman
Brooklyn Menard, who won her first NEC Rookie of the Week award back on Sept. 22, scored her second goal of the season just seven minutes into the game to give LIU an early 1-0 lead. While New Haven later tied the game,
Grace Hennig scored LIU's second goal at the fifty-nine-minute mark to give her team a lead they'd hold on to the rest of the way. It was the fourth goal of the season for Hennig, who earned NEC Player of the Week on Sept. 8.
With the win, the Sharks improve to an overall record of 6-2-4 on the campaign, surpassing last season's wins total.
LIU returns to the field on Sunday, Oct. 12, hosting Le Moyne at 12 p.m.
