WORCESTER, Mass. — Maggie Culp's game-winning third-period goal lifted the LIU women's hockey team to a 2-1 win against Assumption on Saturday afternoon, as the Sharks swept their two-game series against the Greyhounds.
Sarah Rourke evened the score at 1 with a power-play goal at 1:11 left in the middle frame. It was the Sharks' third power-play goal of the series. Grace Babington picked up her second assist of the series on Rourke's goal.
Culp's tally came with 8:59 left in regulation to secure LIU's 12th win of the season. Anna Fairman collected her fourth assist of the series after contributing the helper on Culp's game-winner.
Abbie Thompson won her second straight game and earned her 11th win of the season with a 26-save performance.
Carrigan Umpherville finished the game with an assist, and Jeannie Wallner recorded a team-high three blocks.
LIU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Northwell Health Ice Center.
