BUFFALO, N.Y. — The LIU men's lacrosse team tied its season high with 17 goals against Canisius to pick up its eighth win of the season, in Buffalo.
LIU trailed 7-6 in the early stages of the third quarter before
Tom von Bargen tied the game at seven.
Sean Boll scored four of his five goals in the third quarter as the Sharks and Golden Griffins took a 12-all tie into the final frame.
Canisius took a 14-12 lead in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, but that's when von Bargen and
Owen Stefanko stepped up.
von Bargen and Stefanko scored the next four goals of the game, two each, giving the Sharks a 16-14 lead, which sealed the deal for LIU.
Cam Connolly added an insurance goal in the final seconds of the game as LIU knocked off Canisius 17-15.
Tyler Davide scooped up a team-high four ground balls for LIU.
Shaun Hill went 7-19 in the faceoff circle, and
Anthony DiMatteo went 6-17.
Jasper Simon made six saves for the Sharks.
LIU next plays against Manhattan on Wednesday, April 10, at 4 p.m. at LIU.
