BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU baseball team swept Delaware State in three games after its 4-0 win against the Hornets on Sunday afternoon.
Benjamin Fierenzi's two-run single in the sixth inning put the Sharks ahead 2-0.
Jack Power delivered the big blow an inning later with a two-run home run to right field, giving LIU a 4-0 lead.
Both Fierenzi and Power finished the game with two hits each.
Jared Hughes picked up his second win of the season after pitching six strong innings for the Sharks.
Once again, the LIU bullpen did its job.
PJ Moritz pitched a scoreless seventh, and
Jack VanDoran pitched the final two frames to wrap up the game.
LIU has now won its last four series and currently sits in first place in the NEC with an 18-6 conference record. The Sharks also improved to 17-2 at home.
LIU next plays at Army West Point on Tuesday and then heads to North Andover, Mass., for a three-game series against Merrimack.
