WEST POINT, N.Y. — Justin DeCastro and
Jake Mastillo lifted LIU to a 3-2 win against Army West Point.
Jacob Pipercic broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning by driving in
Noah Sorensen with an RBI double to left, giving LIU a 1-0 lead.
DeCastro was remarkable on the mound for LIU. The sophomore fanned seven batters in six innings, earning his third win of the season.
Jake Mastillo's two-run blast to left added a pair of insurance runs for LIU.
Mastillo leads the team with 11 home runs and has homered in three of his last four games.
PJ Moritz relieved DeCastro and pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, while
Evan Panjwani retired the only batter he faced.
Jack VanDoran picked up his ninth save in the win as the Sharks secured their sixth-straight win.
LIU will next play at Merrimack in its second to last road trip of the season. The three-game series against the Warriors begins Friday at 3 p.m.
