BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Nicholas Delvecchio drove in three runs in LIU's 8-2 win against Iona on Wednesday afternoon.
The Sharks knocked off the Gaels a day after beating Saint Peter's in an action-packed five-game week for LIU.
Delvecchio's single to center in the fourth inning put LIU ahead 5-1.
Seth Surrett, who hit for the cycle against Saint Peter's, padded the Sharks' lead with a single in the fourth inning. Surrett also finished the game with a stolen base, as did
Chandler Ketchup, who stole home to give the Sharks a 7-1 lead.
Noah Sorensen continued to shine. The redshirt freshman picked up a pair of hits, including an RBI double.
Torin Kassebaum got the win for the Sharks in what played out to be a bullpen game. Seven pitchers took the hill for LIU in its 15th home win of the season.
The Sharks are back on the field Friday when they host Delaware State for the start of a three-game series against the Hornets.
