BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Seth Surrett hit for the cycle in LIU's 9-2 win against Saint Peter's on Tuesday afternoon.
Surrett led off the game with a triple in the first inning, followed by a home run in the second inning. The graduate student then singled and doubled to center in the sixth and eighth innings, respectively. He also drew a walk, completing a perfect day at the plate.
LIU took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.
Jake Mastillo's triple to center put the Sharks ahead 2-0.
Carlton Harper drove in Mastillo with an RBI double to center.
Freshman
Nicholas Delvecchio plated a pair of runs with a single up the middle, giving LIU a 5-0 lead.
The big blast of the game came off the bat of Surrett. The graduate student hit his fourth home run of the season, giving LIU a commanding 6-0 lead. Surrett went 4-for-4 on the day.
Justin DeCastro picked up his second win of the season. The sophomore struck out five batters in 6.2 innings pitched.
Kevin Small and
PJ Moritz pitched 2.1 innings of relief. Both pitchers picked up a strikeout in LIU's 18th win of the season.
The Sharks are back on the field tomorrow at 3 p.m. against Iona.
