NEW BRITAIN, Conn. —The LIU baseball team dropped the opening game of its three-game series against Central Connecticut State on Friday.
JC Navarro drove in the first run of the game, putting the Sharks ahead with an early 1-0 lead.
The Blue Devils responded with five runs of their own in the first and second innings, taking a 5-1 lead.
Jake Mastillo continued his offensive dominance, leading the Sharks with a two-hit game, which included an RBI single to left field in the eighth inning.
Both teams will meet again on Saturday at 1 p.m.
