NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The LIU women's basketball traveled to Massachusetts on Friday night to take on Merrimack in an NEC matchup.
The Sharks put up a fight in the first half, trading baskets with the Warriors and trailed by four at half.
Unfortunately for LIU, Merrimack woke up in the third quarter and took a 20 point lead heading into the fourth. That would be too much for the Sharks as they fell 68-51.
Mariah Elohim scored a team-high 12 points. Ashley Austin followed with 12 and Emaia O'Brien had 11.
Amaya Dowdy coming off of injury led LIU with 10 rebounds while Samantha Bailey grabbed seven boards.
The Sharks return to the court on Thursday night when they travel to take on FDU at 7 p.m.
