                     BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU swimming teams had plenty of impressive performances over the weekend against Wagner and 
Mariajose Lopez Lizarraga stood above the rest.  
The San Miguel de Allende, Mexico native was dominant in distance races at the dual meet, grabbing victories in the 500-meter freestyle (5:10.35), 1,000-meter freestyle (10:28.73) and 1,650-meter freestyle (17.25.43).
Lopez Lizarraga was also named an NEC Prime Performer along with 
Giannis Venetos and 
Dani Chocano Fernández. Venetos was victorious in the 100-meter breaststroke with a 58.08 and Chocano Fernández won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:44.30.
The Sharks return to the pool on Monday, Feb. 19 at the. NEC Championships.
