LORETTO, Pa.— The LIU women's basketball team traveled over to Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon to take on the Red Flash in NEC play.
The game was extremely close with both.teams leading and six ties. It seemed like every time LIU tried to pull away, Saint Francis U would storm right back either tie it up or gain the lead itself.
The game was tied at 39 entering the fourth quarter, but early on the Red Flash would gain a five-point lead. That seemed to be all Saint Francis U would need as while LIU kept fighting, they could not come all the way back and fell 61-56.
Amaya Dowdy had a monster game, scoring a team-high 25 points while also grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds. Both are game-highs for the Sharks this season.
Alexzeya Brooks scored eight points while
Emaia O'Brien and
Ashley Austin both had seven.
The Sharks return to the court on Monday at 5 p.m. when they take on Chicago State in the Steinberg Wellness Center.
