EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Onward!

The top-seeded LIU women's hockey team defeated pesky No. 8 seed Saint Michael's, 3-0, on Saturday at Northwell Health Ice Center to sweep the best-of-three series and advance to the NEWHA semifinals.

Jeannie Wallner produced a pair of goals and Mary Rachel Lenaeus also scored in the clincher.

NEWHA Goaltender of the Year Tindra Holm made 24 saves en route to the shutout.

The Sharks' opponent will be resolved during continued quarterfinal action on Sunday. The conference reseeds after the opening round.

Regardless, LIU has home-ice advantage and will host one winner-take-all semifinal game next Saturday at 7 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.
