Mikayla Lantto Fuels Early Lead as Women's Hockey Notches 20th Victory

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Mikayla Lantto scored the game's opening two goals and the LIU women's hockey team grinded out a 3-2 win against Stonehill on Friday afternoon at Northwell Health Ice Center.

The Sharks earned their 20th win of the season, matching the program record they established a year ago. They can set a new mark on Saturday when they again face the Skyhawks, in a "White Out Game" at 2 p.m.

After Lantto scored a pair of goals, Stonehill got on the scoreboard 18 seconds into the third period.

However, Jeannie Wallner answered three minutes later for the Sharks to restore a two-goal cushion.

Goaltender Tindra Holm recorded 31 saves in the victory.
