LIU Athletics Welcomes Newest Full-Time Staff Members

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU Athletics proudly welcomes Meaghan Kelly, Joseph Niemir, and Jason Diaz as the newest full-time staff members in the department.

Meaghan Kelly: Assistant Director of Athletic Business Development
Kelly joins LIU after serving as an account executive with the New York Islanders, where she managed over 25 accounts across the tri-state area and assisted members and prospects with sales objectives, identifying appropriate solutions. At LIU, Kelly will oversee team finances, yearly budgets, and operational needs, including schedules, hotel bookings, travel logistics, and team orders. She will also collaborate with athletic administration and the executive team on departmental initiatives, working closely with Michael Johnson and Elliott Charles to support critical projects and priorities. Kelly holds a Master of Business Administration in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a minor in Statistics from Misericordia University.

Joseph Niemir: Senior Assistant Director for Operations
Niemir joins LIU after a successful stint as a community relations assistant with the New York Islanders, where he regularly connected with fans and the Long Island community. As Senior Assistant Director for Operations, Niemir will ensure the seamless execution of daily athletic events and practices. His responsibilities include coordinating equipment needs, overseeing event setup and breakdown, and serving as a liaison for officials and visiting teams. He will also assist with play-by-play logging, replay operations, and stat sheet distribution, while training and supervising a team of student workers. Additionally, Niemir will manage scheduling for all Post Campus sports teams for the upcoming spring season. The Long Island native graduated from the University of Tampa with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.

Jason Diaz: Assistant Director for Operations
Diaz, a former student-athlete, joins LIU after a successful collegiate baseball career at FDU, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Studies. As Assistant Director for Operations, Diaz, a Long Island native, will manage day-to-day operations to ensure athletic events run efficiently. He will coordinate logistics for practices and games, working closely with coaches, student-athletes, and staff to meet their needs. Diaz will oversee event setup, breakdown, and communication, while serving as the primary point of contact for officials and visiting teams. His role also includes managing athletic facilities across campus and assisting with play-by-play logging, replay operations, and stat sheet distribution.
