EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Anna Fairman emerged as the overtime hero on Friday night, as the LIU women's hockey team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Post 3-2 at the Northwell Health Ice Center.

Emma Mortl put the Sharks on the board with a power-play goal late in the second period, narrowing the Sharks' deficit to 3-1.

Reigning NEWHA Player of the Week Jeannie Waller continued her scoring streak, netting her fifth goal in two games with a power-play equalizer at the 6:29 mark of the third period to tie the game at 2.

Anna Fairman sealed the win for the Sharks in overtime, giving LIU the win in game one of the weekend series against Post.

Both Fairman and Waller finished the game with two points each.

Goaltender Abbie Thompson made 27 saves to secure her seventh win of the season.

The teams face off again on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
