STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The LIU women's basketball team took the quick trip to Staten Island for their second NEC contest of the season.
The Sharks started off the game well, keeping the game close with the Seahawks but trailed by seven at halftime.
In the second half LIU ran into turnover trouble which would wind up leading to quick baskets for Wagner. The Sharks kept fighting but could not claw their way back as they fell 75-66.
Ashley Austin led the team with 15 points while also contributing a team-high five steals and four assists as well as two rebounds.
Emaia O'Brien had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Amaya Dowdy just missed a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
The Sharks return to the court when they host Sacred Heart in the Steinberg Wellness Center on Saturday at 2 p.m.
