LANCASTER, Pa.— Devin Matthews and
John Dusza led the way for the LIU wrestling team on Friday at the David H. Lehman F&M Open.
Matthews won three matches at 141 pounds to reach the quarterfinals. He defeated Franklin & Marshall's Drew Currier (9-4), Drexel's Gabe Onorato (5-2) and Air Force's Trason Oehme (8-1) before falling to Pitt's Cole Matthews (8-1).
And
John Dusza won a pair of matches at 197 pounds to also reach the quarterfinals. He topped Navy's Cael Crebs (7-4) and Army West Point's Reid Schroeder (9-7).
Rhise Royster enjoyed success for the Sharks at 157 pounds, defeating Kent State's Keegan Knapp (5-4) and Columbia's David Berkovich (4-1) to reach the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, in consolation brackets,
Corey Connolly at 174 pounds and
Anthony D'Alesio at 184 pounds won multiple matches.
