HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Anthony D'Alesio set the tone in the opening match and the LIU wrestling team also got wins from Devin Matthews, Drew Witham and Rhise Royster.

However, the Sharks fell to host Hofstra, 22-14, on Saturday afternoon.

D'Alesio at 184 pounds opened the competition with a 9-5 decision over Will Conlon.

Devin Matthews at 141 pounds recorded a major decision over Alex Turley (13-5) and Drew Witham at 149 pounds recorded a major decision over Noah Tapia (13-3).

Rhise Royster then had a 6-1 decision over Jurius Clark at 157 pounds, which pulled LIU within 15-14 at the time.

The Sharks return to action next Friday at Franklin and Marshall.
