MANCHESTER, N.H. — Mikayla Lantto scored the game-winner six seconds into overtime and the LIU women's hockey team further solidified its hold on first place in the conference with a 2-1 win against Franklin Pierce on Friday night.
LIU (18-2) now leads NEWHA by five points over second-place Saint Anselm (15-5-2).
The teams meet again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Lantto's goal six seconds into the extra session came after Saint Anselm evened the score early in the third period.
Saint Anselm won 30 of 45 faceoffs, but
Jeannie Wallner won the draw to open OT and fed Lantto for the winner.
Wallner had scored an OT winner against Saint Anselm on Nov. 11 on Long Island.
