EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team will aim to overcome its first speed bump of the NEWHA schedule on Sunday.
Franklin Pierce came to Northwell Health Ice Center on Saturday night and handed the Sharks a 4-3 defeat.
It marked the second straight conference loss for LIU after winning its first 14 games of the NEWHA slate.
LIU had a 32-second two-man advantage and was on the power play for all but the final five seconds during regulation's closing two minutes, but the Sharks could not tally the equalizer.
Former Shark Maggie Korneta had a pair of goals for Franklin Pierce.
The teams meet again on Sunday at 7:15 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.
