Ethan Homler Produces First LIU Goal as Men's Soccer Ties CCSU in NEC Opener

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The LIU men's soccer team earned a draw in its Northeast Conference opener.

Grad transfer Ethan Homler produced his first goal as a Shark in a 1-1 tie with host Central Connecticut State on Sunday afternoon.

Homler scored with his right foot off a centering pass from Ben Assane Fall in the 13th minute to open the match's scoring.

CCSU answered in the 17th minute when Austin Rocke converted a penalty kick following a foul in the box.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Villacis, making his third straight start, otherwise made four saves.

Homler's last goal had come as a senior with Binghamton against UMBC on Nov. 1 of last season.

The Sharks return to action next Sunday at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart.
