STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Kiki Bruning's first collegiate goal lifted the LIU field hockey team to its first win of the season.
Bruning broke a tie with a fourth-quarter score and the Sharks defeated visiting Holy Cross, 3-2, at the rainy Wagner College Field Hockey Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier,
Juana Laskowski also tallied her first collegiate goal, while
Saarah Olton tallied her third of the season for the Sharks.
Goalie
Fleur Hofman recorded her first collegiate win.
The victory was the first of
Mike Pallister's tenure as head coach.
The scoring outburst exceeded LIU's ouput in its opening five matches of the season.
The Sharks (1-5) return to action Friday at Hofstra.
