BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Christopher Hund delivered in the clutch.
Hund plated
Connor Price from second base with a two-out single down the left-field line in the bottom of the ninth as the LIU baseball team overcame a six-run deficit to earn a 12-11 walk-off win against Sacred Heart in Sunday's rubber game at the LIU Baseball Stadium.
Price had doubled with two outs to set up Hund's heroics.
Afterward, teammates mobbed Hund by second base in celebration.
With the score tied at 11 in the top of the inning, reliever
Ty McInnes entered with two outs and struck out Dante D'Amor to strand a pair of inherited runners.
LIU had trailed 11-5 heading to the bottom of the seventh, but began chipping away.
Jake Mastillo and
Jack Power had sacrifice flies in that frame. Then, Mastillo's two-run triple capped a four-run eighth that evened the score.
Leadoff hitter
Max Samson went 4-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Mastillo drove in a team-high four runs.
LIU evened its record at 6-6 in conference play.
The Sharks next play a three-game series at new NEC associate member Norfolk State beginning Thursday.
