CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Three LIU fencers are off to the NCAA national championships.
Men's fencer
Mo Elsayed and women's fencers
Laura Fekete and
Costanza Greggi all qualified in epee this past weekend while competing in the Northeast Regional at Harvard.
Qualification comes from a combination of regular-season record, various strength factors and results at the regional tournament.
The national championships will be held March 23-26 at Duke.
"It was a great and historic day for the Sharks fencing program with three of our student-athletes qualifying for the NCAA Tournament and several others coming very close," coach
Ivan Lee said. "We are very proud of this team and how hard they've worked all season long, and we're pleased with the results. This is just the beginning."
