Men's Hockey Pounds Seawolves as Home Finale Looms

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — As the LIU men's hockey team nears the conclusion of its home schedule, the Sharks pounded Alaska Anchorage on Sunday night.

LIU defeated the Seawolves, 6-2, at Northwell Health Ice Center as Cade Mason, Jordan Di Cicco, Isaiah Fox, Josh Zary, Patriks Marcinkevics and Noah Kane scored.

LIU built a 2-0 lead after one period and never trailed.

The Sharks had a scary moment with 9:05 remaining in the first period when Valtteri Piironen needed medical assistance after an on-ice collision. Fortunately, he was reported to be in stable condition.

The Sharks conclude their 2022-23 home schedule on Tuesday at 3 p.m. with a third meeting against Alaska Anchorage. LIU then heads to Arizona State to conclude its season.
