KENNESAW, Ga. — The LIU baseball team erupted for 14 runs as
Jake Mastillo had a career day at the plate.
However, the Sharks were outslugged and fell to host Kennesaw State, 19-14, on Saturday.
Mastillo, a transfer from Lock Haven, slugged two homers and had six RBIs to lead LIU.
The six RBIs marked the most by a Shark since Davyn Adamscheck also had six in a 26-6 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on May 16, 2021.
Keniel De Leon and
Carlton Harper had three hits apiece on Saturday.
Mastillo and
Jack Power each scored three runs.
LIU (0-5) looks to avoid the sweep when the teams conclude their three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Right-hander
Ty McInnes is due to start for the Sharks.
The Sharks then stay in the state for a Tuesday game against Georgia Tech.
