Women's Hockey Honors 9 on Senior Night, but 19-Game NEWHA Unbeaten Streak Halted

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's ice hockey team honored nine student-athletes in a pregame Senior Night ceremony. The Sharks then fell to Sacred Heart in the regular-season home finale, 2-1, on Saturday night as a 19-game NEWHA unbeaten streak ended.

With LIU trailing 2-0, Ashley Morrow scored a second-period goal to pull the Sharks within a goal. However, LIU never could draw even.

The pregame ceremony honored Megan BouveurSasha HartjeErin HinchJulia HoffmannReneé HoffmannAlva JohnssonAbby LatorellaStella Scott and Lauren Spino.

LIU already had clinched the NEWHA regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

The Sharks close the regular season with a pair of games next weekend at Franklin Pierce, then return to Northwell Health Ice Center for a NEWHA semifinal on March 1 at 3 p.m.
