Women's Hockey NEWHA Unbeaten Streak at 19 after Win at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The LIU women's hockey team's NEWHA unbeaten streak stands at 19 games after a 2-1 victory at Sacred Heart on Friday.

With standout goaltender Tindra Holm and defenseman Paula Bergström away at a national team camp in Sweden, freshman goaltender Annie Abramson turned away 22 of 23 shots on goal and earned the victory.

Mikayla Lantto and Jeannie Wallner scored first-period goals for the Sharks, who built a 2-0 lead.

LIU (18-10-3, 17-1-3) already had clinched the NEWHA regular-season championship the previous weekend at Stonehill.

The Sharks and Sacred Heart complete their home-and-home series on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center. LIU will honor nine student-athletes in a pregame Senior Day ceremony: Megan Bouveur, Sasha Hartje, Erin Hinch, Julia Hoffmann, Reneé Hoffmann, Alva Johnsson, Abby Latorella, Stella Scott and Lauren Spino.
