DOVER, DEL.— The LIU women's basketball team kicked off its DMV road trip when it traveled to Dover to take on Delaware State on Monday night.
The Sharks put together a very nice first quarter, leading 14-13 after it. Unfortunately, the lead would not last long as LIU went cold from the floor. The Sharks were outscored by 18 in the second quarter and could never regain the lead, they fell 84-59.
Ashley Austin was the leading scorer for LIU once again with 15 points. She also added three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Amaya Dowdy was second in points with 14.
Samantha Bailey the Sharks in rebounds with nine, five of which were offensive.
Emaia O'Brien was the assist leader with four and also scored 11 points.
The Sharks will return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to Blacksburg to take on nationally ranked Virginia Tech at 6 p.m.
