EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Reigning national goaltender of the month
Tindra Holm had logged every minute between the pipes for the LIU women's hockey team this season entering Saturday night.
But after a convincing win at Post a day earlier, LIU coach
Kelly Nash decided the timing was right for freshman
Clara Kammholz to make her collegiate debut in goal for the Sharks in the completion of the home-and-home series.
The result?
A 6-0 victory over Post on Saturday night at Northwell Health Ice Center.
Kammholz, a Milwaukee, Wisc., native, made 13 saves in the victory.
Fellow freshman
Izzy Krause, a winger from Calabasas, Calif., also made her collegiate debut.
Mikayla Lantto scored twice and
Sarah Rourke,
Emma Mörtl,
Jeannie Wallner and
Anya Weilandt also had goals for the Sharks.
LIU extended its program-record winning streak to 12 games — all against NEWHA competition. The Sharks are 14-0 lifetime against Post.
LIU next hosts 12th-ranked Princeton on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.
