MINNEAPOLIS, MIN. — The LIU women's basketball team traveled to take on Big Ten hopeful Minnesota on Wednesday night.
The Golden Gophers grabbed a big lead early in the first quarter and a big lead by halftime was all they needed to grab the victory. The Sharks unfortunately fell 92-57.
Mariah Elohim led the Sharks in points with 13 while also adding two assists.
Nigeria Harkless was second on the team with 11 points and led in both rebounds and steals with six and four.
Alexzeya Brooks had a solid game, scoring nine while recording three rebounds and two assists.
Janessa Williams kept playing well after her impressive debut on Monday, scoring 10 points and recording two rebounds.
Ashley Austin and
Emaia O'Brien were tied for the team lead in assists with four.
Nia Santiago made her collegiate debut.
The Sharks return to the court on Sunday when they take on Iona in New Rochelle at 5 p.m.
