NORTH EASTON, Mass. — Make it a program-record nine straight wins for the LIU women's hockey team.
Tindra Holm produced a 44-save shutout and
Emma Mörtl scored her first career goal during the second period as the Sharks defeated host Stonehill, 1-0, on Friday.
LIU eclipsed an eight-game winning streak produced last October and November, also entirely in NEWHA play, for the program record. Last season's eight-game winning streak was followed by a tie and then another win — for a 10-game unbeaten streak.
The Sharks can match that program-record unbeaten streak on Saturday when they aim for a 10-0 start to NEWHA play with a second game against Stonehill. The puck drops at 1 p.m.
