MALIBU, CALIF. — The LIU men's basketball team kicked off its weekday west coast trip in Malibu against West Coast Conference hopeful Pepperdine.
The Waves jumped out to an early 15 point lead and while the Sharks fought hard, they could never quite close the gap. LIU fell 88-53.
R.J. Greene who is coming off a solid performance against Air Force, put together another nice game, recording his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Tai Strickland looked good coming off of the bench in his LIU debut, scoring 10 with two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Terell Strickland put up 10 points as well, adding four rebounds and two steals.
Andre Washington scored 10 with an assist and three steals.
The Sharks return to the court on Wednesday when they take on nationally ranked UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.
