BANNER DAY! Jeannie Wallner Tallies OT Winner after Women's Hockey Celebrates Title

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team reconfirmed which is the team to beat in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance.

After revealing the team's 2022-23 NEWHA championship banner, the Sharks completed a two-game sweep of league runner-up Saint Anselm with a 2-1 overtime victory on Saturday at Northwell Health Ice Center.

Jeannie Wallner scored the game-winner in the final minute of the extra session.

LIU's Anna Fairman had staked the Sharks to a 1-0 lead midway through the third period, but Saint Anselm tallied the equalizer in the final minute of regulation.

The Sharks upped their winning streak to eight games and improved to 8-0 in NEWHA. They return to action next weekend with a pair of games at Stonehill.
