SANTA CLARA, CALIF. — The LIU men's water polo team opened up the Julian Fraser Memorial tournament with a tough test against nationally ranked California Baptist.
Riyad Shehadeh put the Sharks in front early with the first goal of the match, but the Lancers settled in and LIU fell 21-4.
Shehadeh finished the match strong with three goals, bringing his season total to 54.
Ben LeClair scored his tenth goal of the season.
Ethan Zirh made 15 saves on the night, he now has 223 on the season.
The Sharks return to the pool tomorrow on Saturday when they take on Fresno Pacific and San Jose in a double-header.
