LA VERNE, CALIF. — The LIU Men's Polo Water team continued its west coast road trip when it took on a strong La Verne team Tuesday night. The Sharks lead in the first half of the match, but could not put together a complete match and fell 15-14 in the late stages.
Riyad Shehadeh and
Josep Jodra Muñoz each put together strong matches with four goals a piece. Shehadeh leads the team with 51 goals while Jodra Muñoz is tied for second with
Karl Lovett (who added a goal) with 35.
Anthony Gauna scored a season-high two goals while
Logan Morgan,
Sam Odenkirk and
Gavin Garrett each recorded one.
On the defensive side of the all Shehadeh led the team with five steals followed by
Ethan Zirh with three,
Ben LeClair, Morgan, and Jodra Muñoz all with two.
Zirh recorded eight saves in goal, bringing his season total to 208.
The Sharks return to the pool on Friday when they take on California Baptist at 3:40 p.m.
