EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team is chugging toward the No. 1 seed in the NEWHA Tournament.
Stella Scott scored 59 seconds into Friday's game and the Sharks cruised to a 6-0 win against Saint Michael's on Friday afternoon at Northwell Health Ice Center.
Mary Rachel Lenaeus and
Ashley Morrow also scored first-period goals, 67 seconds apart, for the Sharks.
Jeannie Wallner,
Mikayla Lantto and
Maggie Culp added a third-period goals to further cement the win.
Goaltender
Tindra Holm recorded her fifth shutout of the season.
LIU (15-10-2, 14-1-2 NEWHA) entered the day up four games in the loss column for first place in the conference.
The NEWHA tournament begins on Feb. 24, with the first-place team earning a bye into the March 1 semifinal.
The Sharks and Purple Knights complete the two-game series on Saturday at 2 p.m. on Long Island.
