EIGHT! Women's Hockey Erupts vs. Saint Michael's as Umpherville Plays Career Game 100

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team celebrated the 100th game of Carrigan Umpherville's collegiate career with a rout of Saint Michael's.

Seven different Sharks scored, including Umpherville, on Saturday as LIU defeated the Purple Knights, 8-1, at Northwell Health Ice Center.

The eight-goal outburst marked a season high.

The Sharks swept the four-game season series, outscoring Saint Michael's 18-2.

LIU remains unbeaten in 13 career meetings against the Purple Knights (12-0-1).

On Saturday, Mikayla Lantto scored twice, including 22 seconds into the second period to establish a 3-0 lead.

LIU built an 8-0 advantage before Saint Michael's center Jenna Harrison scored with 3:07 remaining in the game, spoiling Tindra Holm's shutout bid.

A member of LIU women's hockey inaugural team in 2019-20, Umpherville joined teammates Megan Bouveur, Alva Johnsson and Abby Latorella in reaching the 100-games-played milestone.

The Sharks (16-10-2, 15-1-2) next head to Bridgewater, Mass., for games against Stonehill next Friday and Saturday.
