Women's Basketball Opens NEC Play Against Fairleigh Dickinson

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU women's basketball team started conference play against Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday night.

The Sharks fell 88-51 to the Knights inside the Steinberg Wellness Center. Junior guard Ashley Austin scored a team-high 18 points for the Sharks.

Mariah Elohim continued to shine from behind the arch. The freshman drilled a pair of three pointers and finished the game with eight points.

Emaia O'Brien played a team-high 27 minutes and scored six points for the Sharks.

LIU plays at Sacred Heart on Friday, followed by a Sunday afternoon matchup against Wagner to wrap up its two-game weekend road trip.
