Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU men's tennis team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 4-3 on Friday afternoon. The Sharks record moves to 12-9 overall and 4-3 in NEC play.

"Guys played the defending NEC champs today and they showed that they are at that level," said associate head coach Pavlos Stephanides. "We started off slow in doubles and the first set of singles, but the guys refused to go away and we fought back until the end. We are disappointed with the way the defeat came but I am proud of the guys for coming back. We will learn from this tough loss and we are looking to bounce back against Wagner. Shout out to Sergio and Akhil for coming back a set down to win their matches! "
 
SHARK BITES:

• Before the match, the Sharks honored Ben Brandherm and Vikas Dalal, the first honorees for the LIU men's tennis program, for senior day.
• Moving to the match itself, the Knights claimed the first point by taking two of three matches on the double's courts for the early 1-0 match lead.
• Shifting to singles play, LIU picked up their first win of the day on court six with Akhilendran Indrabalan coming back to take a thrilling three set match over Younes Adname 6-7, 6-3, 6-2. With the win, the Sharks trailed for the match 2-1.
• The Sharks then tied the match 2-2 on court four when Sergio Fernandez Romera came back to take down Niclas Pietsch 3-6, 6-3, 7-6.
• Down 3-2, LIU once again found a way to tie the match, this time with Alessandro D'Anna defeating Moric Budinszky in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
• Fairleigh Dickenson would win on court three and secure the 4-3 victory over LIU.
• The Sharks are back in action on Saturday, April 9 at 1p.m. when they face Wagner in both their final NEC and regular season match.
