WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The LIU men's tennis team defeated Sacred Heart 4-2 in their first-ever postseason match. Back in February, the Sharks defeated Sacred Heart 6-1 for their program's first NEC conference win. With the win, the Sharks advance to the semi-finals on Friday.
 
SHARK BITES

• The Pioneers secured their first point of the day with victories on doubles courts one and three to take the early 1-0 match lead.
• In singles play Sacred Heart grabbed their second point with a victory on court one to go ahead 2-0.
• From there on out though, it was all LIU. The Sharks grabbed their first point of the day when NEC Rookie of the Week Alessandro D'Anna taking down Antonie Hernandez 6-3, 6-4 on court five.
• LIU continued their momentum on court six when Akhilendran Indrabalan defeated Ayman Khan 6-2, 6-2 and pushed the Sharks even with the Pioneers at 2-2. 
• Sergio Fernandez Romera grabbed a 4-2 victory with his 6-3, 6-0 triumph against Kevin Chao on court four and the tide turned to a 3-2 LIU lead for the match. 
• It was Philip Hilble that gave the Sharks their first post-season victory when he clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 victory on court three to grant LIU the 4-2 match win.
• The Sharks will back in action Friday, April 15 when they take on No. 1 seeded Bryant, not before 12:30 p.m.
