Softball Battles St. John’s University in Queens

QUEENS, N.Y. – On Wednesday evening, the LIU softball team took on St. John's, falling 4-1 to the Red Storm.

SHARK BITES
  • St. John's struck first and early, crossing their four runs over the plate in the bottom of the first. The Sharks made a late push, taking one run in the top of the sixth, but it wasn't enough of a comeback to turn the tides and the Red Storm took the game 4-1.
  • In the bottom of the first, St. John's scored their four earned runs off of five hits to take the 4-0 lead.
  • Nothing was going for either team until the Sharks got one across the plate in the top of the sixth. It was Alyssa Okada that scored for LIU. When Ciara Granado reached first base off catcher's interference, Okada–on base after she singled through the left side, was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Camryn Lyman and made it to third when Priscilla Gillies singled–got across the plate to grab the Sharks their one run for the evening.
  • Zoe Estoppey (1-2) got the loss on the mound in the evening outing for the Sharks.
  • Up next, the Sharks are back at home on Friday, April 15 at 1 p.m. for a double header against Sacred Heart University.
