Box Score QUEENS, N.Y. – The LIU men's tennis team took on St. Johns on Wednesday at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center and fell 5-0 to the Red Storm. The Sharks record now moves to 10-6.
"The guys had a change to play at a top notch facility against a very tough and well-coached team today. St. John's were the Big East finalists last year and we managed to be competitive in a couple of the doubles and singles matches," said Associate Head Coach
Pavlos Stephanides. "Nevertheless, I believe we could've been much closer on most of the courts. This match definitely gae us a lot to learn from and it will help us step up in the future."
SHARK BITES:
- St. John's swept all three matches on the doubles courts to claim the early 1-0 lead.
- In singles play on court one, Ben Brandherm picked up multiple victories during his first and second sets but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-2 to Ignacio Garcia.
- This was the first ever meeting between the two schools on the men's tennis courts.
- The Sharks are back in action on Sunday, March 27 when they return home to face Coppin State at 11:45 a.m.
