Box Score EMMITSBURG, MD – The LIU men's tennis team won their third straight match with a 6-1 victory over St. Francis U. The Sharks improve to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the NEC.

"The conditions were very tough for tennis today due to the extreme wind," said associate head coach Pavlos Stephanides. "Nevertheless, the guys were able to adjust, start out strong and stay positive to win the hotly contested doubles point. In singles we were able to use the doubles point momentum, take the early lead and close out decisively on most courts." 

SHARK BITES:

• The Sharks claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three to secure the early 1-0 lead.
• Ben Brandherm continued the Sharks victory streak on the singles courts with a 6-0, 6-4 victory on court one over Sebastian Pinos.
• Shifting to court four, Alessandro D'Anna gave LIU a 3-0 lead when he defeated Andrew Teixeira 6-1, 6-2.
• With a similar score line to his doubles match, Philip Hilble took down Jordi Garcia 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the match for the Sharks.
• Sergio Fernandez Romera and Akhilendran Indrabalan each picked up victories on their respective courts with Fernandez Romera winning 6-4, 6-3 on court three and Indrabalan coming out on top 6-3, 7-5 on court five to lock up the Sharks 6-1 victory.
• LIU is back on the court Sunday, March 20 at 12 p.m. when they face Lafayette College in Easton, Penn.
