Box Score EMMITSBURG, MD – The LIU men's tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary's 6-1 on Friday in the first ever meeting between the two sides in men's tennis. The Sharks move to 8-5 on the year and 3-1 in the NEC.
 
"The guys came out strong from the beginning today to take the doubles point" said Associate Head Coach Pavlos Stephanides. "We will continue to work on this part of our game which is getting better by the week. I am also very happy we took all the matches that went to a third set. It is a testament to the hard work the guys have put in with our fitness coach Courtenay Felton off the court. We are looking forward to another conference match tomorrow against SFU."
 
SHARK BITES

• The Sharks claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and two to take the early 1-0 lead.
• Moving to singles, on court one Ben Brandherm took down Christos Dagklis in three-sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-3
• The Sharks continued their hot streak on court two where Danila Ishchanka defeated Elliot Stevens 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
• Court four saw no shortage of action as Alessandro D'Anna and Giovanni Abriola went the distance with D'Anna coming out on top 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 to have LIU clinch the match and take a 4-1 lead.
• Akhilendran Indrabalan and Philip Hilble each took down their opponents in two sets with Indrabalan defeating Jarret Karnibad 6-3, 6-3, and Hilble emerging victorious over Marcel Cronin 7-5, 6-4 to secure the 6-1 victory for LIU.
• The Sharks are back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 when they face St. Francis U.
