Box Score NORTH HAVEN, CONN. – The LIU men's tennis team defeated Quinnipiac, 4-3, on Monday with
Danila Ishchanka securing the victory in the final match of the day on the singles court. With the victory, the Sharks record improves to 7-5.
"It was a solid performance in singles today after a rather slow start in doubles," said head coach Jan Griga. " We have plenty of positives to take away from today and to the practice courts this week. We are looking for a stronger start against conference rivals SFU and MSM next weekend."
SHARK BITES
- Quinnipiac swept all three matches on the doubles court to nab the first point of the afternoon and go ahead 1-0.
- Shifting to singles, the Sharks secured the first win of the day on singles and picked up their first point with Alessandro D'Anna taking down Kemal Karagozoglu 6-3, 6-0.
- Philip Hilble took down the Bobcat's Donovan Brown 6-2, 6-2 on court six to give LIU their first lead of the day at 2-1
- Akhilendran Indrabalan continued the singles hot streak for the Sharks with his 6-3, 6-1 victory against Alester Magalit to push LIU ahead 3-1.
- Tied 3-3 with one match left to finish, Danil Ischlankla clinched the 4-3 win for LIU in a thrilling three set match victory over Javier Cassolas 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 on court two.
- LIU is back in action on Friday, March 18th when they continue their road trip to face Mount St. Mary's in their second NEC conference match.
